 Dorm Culture

The Female Student Body Tells All .

The female population at Oral Roberts University is more than the male population. Since there are a large number of females, the women of ORU require more residential space.

ORU women students reside in four residential halls, while the men reside in only three.

Every beginning of Fall and Spring semester women have the option to switch out of the dorm they currently reside in and move to a residential hall of their choice.

Some females base their room option on what they can afford financially. Meanwhile, many other women select their hall based on the environment their residential hall entails.

Every female at ORU has an opinion on why they believe their residential hall is enjoyable.

In the tri-winged Claudius Roberts Hall, Resident, Senior Ariel Parsons says, “Claudius is more of a community-based hall. It brings together so many wild and fun personalities …” Also in Claudius Delmy Henriquez states, “Claudius is a social dorm, and you are more accessible to see other people.”

Meanwhile, in the modern split level Gabrielle Salem Hall, Senior Corneesha Tweed says, “Gabby is where the upperclassmen stay because it has a peaceful atmosphere.  Also, students are able to study better since, there isn’t much noise.” Senior Sierra Brewington believes the quietness is caused by private restrooms, which hinders social interaction between rooms and floors.

On the other end of campus in the tallest tower in Frances Cardone, Sophomore Selena Cotto states, “Frances is much more quiet, but not antisocial. The inhabitants are more responsible than other dorms.”

While in the second tallest tower in Susie Vinson, Senior Lexy Washington feels that her dorm has a warmer and calmer approach, which makes it more welcoming with the girl’s personalities. Meanwhile Junior Kimmi Woods believes that the Susie girls are more outgoing and have a great sense of fashion.

Whether the girls live in Susie or Frances, Claudius, or even Gabrielle, they all know they call their residential hall a “home away from home.”
